Johnny Tyre

He lettered in football, basketball and track at Waycross High School in the 1930’s.
He was an outstanding amateur boxer having gone to the finals of the state Golden Gloves Tournament in Atlanta.
He was a veteran prep and college athletic official and organized the Waycross (later South Georgia) Officials Association. His career as a game official covered some 45 years.
He retired from Seaboard Coastline and lived in Jesup, Georgia.
