M.C. Pritchard

A versatile athlete, M.C. excelled in football, basketball and swimming in high school, tennis in college and golf after his college days.
A reserve on the Waycross Bulldog football team in 1942, he became a starting guard in 1943 playing both offense and defense. He and the other guard, Billy Bryan (1990 Hall of Fame inductee), cleared the way for Claude Hipps and Nolan Lang (also Hall of Fame members) who led Waycross to the South Georgia title game before losing to Albany 6-0. Albany beat LaGrange 45-0 the next week for the state championship.
He was the captain of the 1944 Bulldog squad remaining at guard on offense and alternating between nose guard and middle linebacker on defense. He was an outstanding leader on that team calling all offensive and defensive plays. He was selected by the area coaches to the All-SGFA team and chosen for All-State Honors.
M.C. was a reserve on the 1944 basketball and won a starting guard position in 1945.
After high school he served in the U.S. Navy. Following his Navy tour he enrolled at Middle Georgia College where he lettered two years as a first team guard. He also won two letters in tennis as the number 3 man on that team.
Upon graduation from the University of Georgia, M.C. was a member of the South Georgia Officials Association for three years.
He became a member of the Okefenokee Golf Club in 1955 and developed into a highly competitive golfer winning numerous trophies and prizes in tournaments.
M.C. lives in Waycross where he retired in 2008 as the Judge of the Juvenile Courts in the Waycross Judicial Circuit
