The F.J. Beverly Beacon of Light Award honors an individual who reflects the faith, character, and servant leadership of Reverend F.J. Beverly.
This year’s recipient, Bruce Tison, embodies those qualities through a lifetime of quiet leadership and faithful service.
A 1983 honors graduate of Ware County High School, Bruce continued his academic success at Valdosta State University, where he also served as Scholarship Chairman for Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He credits his parents and upbringing in a Christian home for shaping his commitment to humility, hard work, and putting others first. He also recognizes the influence of his wife, Susie, whose compassion and discernment have strengthened his dedication to serving others with integrity and fairness.
Bruce has spent more than 35 years in the banking industry, building a career defined not only by professional excellence but by genuine care for people and community. His leadership has extended across numerous organizations, including the South Georgia State College Foundation, Georgia Bankers Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Rotary Club, and the Ware County Athletic Booster Club, where he served as President. He is also a member of the Leadership Waycross Class of 1993.
His faith has remained central throughout his life. At Sweat Memorial Baptist Church, Bruce has faithfully served for 25 years as Treasurer and as a Deacon, including leadership roles in finance and church governance.
Those who know Bruce best describe him as a steady, trustworthy leader whose actions consistently reflect his values. His life is marked by service, humility, and a deep commitment to others.
Bruce and his wife Susie have been married for 37 years and are the proud parents of Lauralee Tison Beauregard (husband Matt) and Grant Tison and grandparents to Sutton Beauregard.
In every aspect of his life, Bruce Tison reflects the spirit of this award. The Waycross Ware County Sports Hall of Fame is proud to recognize him as this year’s recipient of the F.J. Beverly Beacon of Light Award.
