Dr. Erin Ethridge Harvey
Inducted 2026

Some people spend a lifetime around athletics. David B. Shields, Jr. built his life in it.

Some athletes compete. Others grow into leaders who carry those lessons far beyond the game.
Dr. Erin Ethridge Harvey is one of those leaders.

A 2003 graduate of Ware County High School, Erin was a multi-sport athlete, competing in basketball, track and field, and softball. In track, she became a Region Champion in the high jump. On the basketball court, she averaged a double-double, 12 points and 12 rebounds per game, and earned All-Region honors her senior year.

She continued her athletic career at Southern Union State Community College, earning NJCAA All-Tournament honors, and later at Alabama State University, where she was recognized on the SWAC All-Academic Team.

But Erin’s story doesn’t stop with athletics; it expands through education. She earned her bachelor’s degree, a master’s from Troy University, and a Doctor of Education from Valdosta State University.

In her career, she has served as a teacher, coach, and administrator, earning Teacher of the Year honors at multiple schools and leading teams to conference championships. Today, she serves as Assistant Principal at Waresboro Elementary School, continuing to invest in students every day.

She credits her coaches for teaching discipline and perseverance, and her parents for modeling leadership and integrity.

The Waycross-Ware County Sports Hall of Fame honors Dr. Erin Ethridge Harvey for a life defined by growth, leadership, and service.
