He was outstanding in football, basketball and track at Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Georgia and in football and tract at the University of Georgia where he captained the grid team one year.
He set two Southeastern Conference track records in hurdles and was top scorer in several SEC track meets.
He coached football and baseball at Waycross high School 1941-1954, with time out for military service in World Ware II. He posted a 60-38-2 track championship teams at Waycross and several outstanding baseball teams.
He has been elected to the Georgia Prep Hall of Fame and the Georgia State Hall of Fame.
He retired as an education administrator and lived in Calhoun, Georgia.
